Trot in Time Carriage Tours offers a singularly enchanting experience: a 35 minute journey through the heart of Lunenburg’s historic old town. As you step aboard our meticulously maintained carriage, pulled by one of our majestic horses, you’ll be transported back in time to an era of charm and elegance.

We accept Canadian and American cash (at par), as well as Credit Cards. Prices are exclusive of HST.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hours do you operate?

From May 5 -September 30 we operate Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 8 pm, Sundays from 1 pm to 8 pm.

Through October we run tours from 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturdays, and 1 pm to 6 pm on Sunday.

How do I pre-book a tour?

We are launching online scheduling options for our 2025 season on April 15, 2025. Please be on the lookout for our updated website!

What if the weather is bad on the day we've booked?

If there is inclement weather (either rain, or extreme heat), or if a horse is unwell, we may not be in operation.

You will be contacted via your preferred contact method if you have a pre-scheduled tour, and will be offered the option of rescheduling or a full refund.

Are children allowed?

Yes, children of all ages are more than welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Children five and under ride free.

What are the horses' names?

Our horses for our 2025 summer season are Doc, Jack, Pete, Sandy, and Willie. You can learn more about them on Our Horses page!

Do you accept walk-up passengers?

Absolutely! Trot in Time has always served walk-up clients and are happy to book you in, pending availability!

What a fun way to experience Lunenburg. Our guide was just the right amount of corny and our equine friend, Bernie, was a sweet boy.Will note that the trot and terrain does result in a bit of a herky-jerky ride, so if you are prone to motion sickness it may not be ideal for you.

We had a wonderful experience at Trot in Time carriage tours. Our guide was Shay and our horse was Jack - they both knew the way and Shay was very well versed on the history of Lunenburg and the part of it that is included in the UNESCO world heritage site. We saw many beautiful buildings and learned a lot about their history. Definitely worth the time and money. Enthusiastically recommended!

What a fantastic way to see Lunenburg. The guide was well informed and treated Jack, the horse pulling the carriage, with respect and kindness. We were impressed and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Nova Scotia.

We were taken around Lunenberg and given an excellent history lesson. Our guide was lovely and very informative. They allowed us to take our two pups with us on the tour as well. Best money spent to have an educated tour. Thank you so much. Jacquie and Doug

These people provide a horse and carriage ride around Lunenburg. You will find them at the center of town really close to the Pier.We were flipping between a boat ride and this one - picked this one coz the kids had enough of the whale tour we had taken earlier in our trip.This ride is run by mother. daughter family along with their grand mother I think.40 dollars for adults and 20 for kids for roughly 40 mins.The lady who took us out was lively, funny , friendly and informative about the history of Lunenburg.She took us around town and gave us the scoop on everything.It's such a beautiful little town with these colorful houses and streets - you get the best pictures of everything sitting in the carriage.You can pay by cash or an online email transfer after the ride.Take this ride if you want to see Lunenburg quick - also its all slopes and can be difficult for older people or people with handicaps.Well worth the money spent my friends!!!

Wonderful way to experience the Lunenburg waterfront. Experienced guides. And the horses seemed well cared for, and got lots of breaks. Definitely recommend trot in time carriage tours if you are in Lunenburg!
